How to Save Money on Your Wedding Cake

Updated: Sep 20

We’re proud to spotlight Grace Dennis with Designs by GG, a boutique baker located in South Irving close to Belt Line and Rock Island Road. She’s been in business since 2008 when her son got married and wanted her to make his groom's cake. She ended up going to culinary school years later and now works out of a design studio located at her house with a team of three including her daughter-in-law who is the other designer and sister-in-law who is a designer in training.

Designs by GG is licensed and insured and serves not only the DFW metroplex but can book a kitchen and create a masterpiece anywhere you need them to go. Tastings are held in their local showroom by appointment only, but they’re not your typical boutique bakery where cakes are frozen and taken out a couple of days ahead of time. Everything's made fresh for each couple that morning, just like their wedding cake would be made the day before their wedding.

They strive to ease the wedding planning process giving each couple a white-glove VIP experience by custom designing every aspect of the cake, from the look and feel to exploring the culinary options until the perfect cake is born. What’s best is that even their packages and pricing are custom tailored to each couple’s specific needs, no matter the size or type of ceremony, from complete custom cakes to faux cakes that you can rent, eating a much cheaper sheet cake option. They believe that couples should have the wedding they want without breaking the bank.

Designs by GG has won many awards, including the Best Midwest Boutique Bakery in an international magazine that was published in May of this year. They’ve also been featured on the Housewives of Dallas Season 4, making a big top cake for LeeAnne Locklen’s lingerie party when she was getting married.
